Faq

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

The $500 deposit is non-refundable and secures your spot on the Retreat. Full Retreat payments are due no later than 90 days before the Retreat. If you paid in full and need to cancel more than 90 days before the Retreat start date, you will be refunded your payment, excluding the $500 non-refundable deposit amount. If you cancel in less than 90 days before the Retreat start date, no refunds will be issued. Except in the event of a Force Majeure, if the Retreat needs to be cancelled by Awae, your deposit and payment will be fully refunded. No refund is available if you do not show up, or if you leave a retreat, event, or accommodation early. No refund is available if you arrive at the retreat location with symptoms of active infection or otherwise leave early for any health, emergency, or otherwise.

How do I find travel insurance?

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. There are many providers but here are a few highly ranked by Forbes: Faye, Travelinsurance.com, Squaremouth, and World Nomads. All registrations and bookings are subject to Awae’s Terms and Conditions.

What advice do you have for solo travelers?

If you are traveling alone, we are here to support your journey if you have any questions at all. Most of our retreat participants travel alone and find friends quickly among the group. Traveling alone can be scary if you haven’t done it before. Here are some recommendations / reminders:

If it’s an international destination, be sure your passport is not expired (or close to it’s expiration date!)
Print the following documents and bring them in your carry-on: your flight information, ground transportation information, retreat venue address and our phone number (you will be invited to a WhatsApp group).
We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance in advance just in case anything comes up.
Download WhatsApp in advance and check the app as soon as you land in the destination - there may be others arriving at the same time who you can meet up with in the airport.
Look into your phone plan and consider purchasing an international phone plan if the destination is abroad. Some phone services include this so you may not need to do anything to use your phone internationally.

How many people will be on the retreat?

It varies by retreat but we typically host between 10 to 16 people on a retreat. If it’s a larger or smaller one we will indicate that on the retreat webpage.

I’m experienced at yoga; will I be challenged in the classes?

Our goal is for all yogis, regardless of level, to be challenged and to experience something new. We offer opportunities to do more (or less) depending on your level of experience and how you’re feeling that day and we pride ourselves on mixing in meditation, pranayama, and other techniques to give you a well-rounded yoga experience.

I’ve never done yoga; can I still join?

Yes! We recommend that you try a few yoga classes before signing up to be sure you enjoy it and know what it will be like, but our classes work for all levels and we offer ways to modify in the poses. Alternatively, we offer private virtual lessons for $150 / hour that you could do in advance. This is a great way to see what it’s all about in a one-on-one setting and gives you the chance to get to know your host in advance. If you’re interested, email us at arin@awaeretreats.com.

Are flights included?

Flights are not included. See the retreat webpage for specific information about what airport(s) to fly into / out of.

With the exception of my flight, is everything else included in the price?

Most everything else will be included but there may be a few exceptions. For example, if you choose to drink alcohol at dinner, that may be an additional cost, and sometimes we plan a few meals on your own so you can experience the local restaurants of your choice. Also, some venues offer other services such as a spa with optional treatments you could purchase upon arrival. What is Coaching and how is it incorporated into Awae retreats?

Coaching helps people create and experience the life of their choosing. It helps people bring awareness to their habits, challenge their belief systems, evaluate what is— or isn’t—serving them, and learn how to achieve the things they want in life. Your retreat host, Arin Bryan, is a certified coach, who offers coaching workshops to help you experience a deeper connection to your inner wisdom and unlock your greatest potential. On long retreats (longer than a few days), you may have the option to sign-up for a one-on-one coaching session if you are interested.
